What We’re Drinking – Senda Verde

Senda Verde is a collection of wine from the northern coast of Spain.

Senda Verde Treixadura 2015

Very pale yellow, almost clear. The nose shows white flowers and hints of lime. It opens on the palate, with generous pear and white peach flavors. Sweet Key lime zest gives a bright, acidic background. Mouth-feel is soft and round. This is delightful, and a marvelous value. Drink with a big plate of hot french fries. Highly Recommended. 90 points. DBH

Senda Verde Mencia 2015

Fresh and dusty raspberries come out on the nose. The palate is more tart, far more cranberry than raspberry. This is very tart, very acidic, and would cut well through creamy gravies. Drink with beef tips and peppercorn sauce. Recommended. 86 points. DBH

Senda Verde Godello 2015

The color is pale and clear, only barely yellow. It is very round and soft on the nose, with rich aromas of honeysuckle, melon, lemon cream, and vanilla. Melon leads on the palate, sweet and soft, and is almost instantly overtaken by tight, tart lemon, which lasts and lingers. Drink with chicken fried steak with white gravy. Recommended. 87 points. Senda Verde Albariño 2015

Magnolia blossoms and white peaches waft up from the glass. On the palate, peaches and apricots show, along with very zingy lemon zest. The zest lingers on the finish. This is a very bright, sunny wine to drink outside on a hot day. Pair it with shrimp off the outdoor grill. Recommended. 87 points. DBH
