What We’re Drinking – NV Schramsberg Vineyards “Mirabelle” Brut Rosé

When people tell me “I don’t like bubbles” I slap them until they go away. Who doesn’t love bubbles? Bubbles have been fun since we were babies. First there were bubble baths, then blowing bubbles, the bubble gum, and then, finally, we grow up and we get to drink BUBBLES! And these are darned good bubbles.
The color is gorgeous, a coppery pink. The mousse is fine, with tiny bubbles floating up. Stick your nose into the glass for aromas of fresh bread and peaches. On the palate, raspberries join the peaches up front, with refreshing bright citrus, sweet lime and Meyer lemon, on the finish. Bright acids, a round mouth-feel, sumptuous bubbles, and a lasting finish make this delightful wine a steal at $20. Drink with baked scallops. Highly recommended. 90 points.
