What We’re Drinking – Gloria Ferrer Brut

This producer has been a sentimental favorite of mine for some years. This wine is a clear tan-gold with nice, small bubbles. It opens with fresh mineral aromas and a hint of raspberries. Green apple on the nose moves onto the palate. The wine becomes toastier and more raspberry-fruity as it warms and opens in the glass – not surprising when I later found out it’s over 90% pinot noir. Acidity comes to the fore on the end-palate and carries along into a medium finish. A very nice aperitif for the holidays as well as other seasons.
