Don Sonderling has always enjoyed writing. Back in “the day,” as they say, when he had a day job, he
contributed to several trade publications. However, about 25 years ago, becoming “semi-retired,” then
transitioning to full retirement, Don and his wife Lynn, who have always loved travelling, began making
extensive trips to what was then California’s burgeoning Central Coast wine country.
After meeting winemakers (many of whom have become industry leaders today) and winery owners and
becoming more immersed in this unique wine country lifestyle culture, Don began expanding his wine
knowledge (taking several classes) and began contributing articles to various regional lifestyle
publications.
Don and his wife love being constantly “on the go” throughout California (focusing on the Central Coast
with 8-12 trips a year, including Napa Valley and surrounding areas), plus exploring other regions
whenever possible.
When Don started writing, his goal was simple: He wanted to share his wine country travel experiences,
of where to go, what to see, and what to do with others. He hopes to give his readers a picture of the
incredible Wine Country Culture, so they will say, “I want to go there; I want to experience that.”
Don contributes to various publications and platforms, including Wine Country This Month, The Paso
Robles Daily News, Monarch.Wine, California 101 Travelers Guide, and is pleased to contribute to
Palate Press.
There is a wealth of wine, food, people, and travel adventures to be discovered in California and
beyond; you may say Don and his wife’s favorite expressions are: ROAD TRIP! And WINE PARTY! He
hopes you enjoy sharing the unique wine, food, and travel culture through his eyes.
