2009 Torbreck “The Steading”

95When the moment came to pour some of this wine into the dish I was cooking, my hand hovered over my glass instead.  Though I did eventually add the wine to the pot of beef stew, I had to sample it several times beforehand. Aromas of dark berries, cherries with minty herbs, and the same elements on the palate.  A mouthfeel of velvet combined with an ethereal dusting of tannins around the edges.  Dark red fruit persists into the finish – a finish just long enough to urge me toward the next sip. Paired nicely with beef stew with mushrooms and carrots. Highly Recommended. 95 points.
