2004 Bodegas Monteviejo Lindaflor Malbec

The color is inky black with purple edges. Mocha shows on the nose, along with blueberry and vanilla. On the palate mocha, blueberries, and licorice start the attack. Fruit turns a bit more black on the mid-palate, moving from blueberry to blackberry, adding tobacco leaf and vanilla. Cocoa lingers on the finish. The label says alcohol is 15.5%. Heat on the nose and the eyes says it is closer to 17%. Tannins are big and dusty. Acids are surprisingly in balance. This is a big chewy mouthful of tannins, mocha, and berries, just begging for a black and blue cowboy ribeye. Highly Recommended (92). DH
