2010 Eden Road “Gundagai” Shiraz

Blackberries, vanilla and alcohol heat waft up from the glass. Blackberries, roasted, meat, soy, and loads of graphite, along with leafy herbs, are all on the palate. Vanilla comes through strong on the mid-palate. There are lots of flavors there, but they are not in pleasing blends and smoothly transitioning layers. Instead, they are all there duking it out in the glass, each vying with the other for your attention. Violets linger on the finish. Tannins are still aggressive, doing their own separate dance. The wood, fruit, and other flavors, along with tannins and acids, need at least five years to settle down and knit together. Until then, no recommendation. DH
