2007 Trione Winery “Block 21” Cabernet Sauvignon

The cabernet grapes for this wine come from a unique block in Trione’s vineyard, with two vines per stake to increase density. The vines grow in opposite directions and have two canes each. The nose shows black currant and cedar. On the palate, sweet black currant and black cherry pair up front. Vanilla and cedar from wood treatment is obvious, but not overwhelming. A hint of pepper lingers with black cherry on a long finish. This is very ripe, with big soft tannins, a fat wine with the acids taking up the rear. With a hearty decant this can be enjoyed right away. Drink with rack of lamb. Recommended (88-90). DH
