Meg Houston Maker, MA, CSW

Meg Houston Maker is a writer curious about nature, culture, food, wine, and place. She’s passionate about traditional food-ways, artisanal food and wine production, sustainable agriculture, and the human connection to landscape. An experienced cook and gardener, she also has particular expertise in wine and food pairing.

Professionally, Meg is an experienced writer and communication strategist who provides editorial, communications design, content strategy, and interactive services to businesses. She has worked within the wine industry to develop marketing, e-commerce, and loyalty programs. She also coordinates wine events, leads tastings and server trainings, and teaches regularly on wine and wine pairing.

Meg holds a Master’s degree in creative writing and is a Certified Specialist of Wine through the Society of Wine Educators. She is former executive editor of Palate Press and now serves here as a regular columnist.
