Buy a Case, Stop a Case: The Rhone Rangers’ Last Syrah

On Tuesday, November 9th, the Rhone Rangers will host “Pneumonia’s Last Syrah” at Dog Patch Studios in San Francisco. Twenty Rhone Rangers member wineries will be pouring a selection of Syrahs in honor of the non-profit’s partnership with the GAVI Alliance, a Swiss-based organization that provides vaccinations to children in developing nations. The Alliance has given over five million vaccinations to needy children worldwide to combat common diseases.

Participating wineries have pledged $10 per case of Syrah sold during November to the cause – which is the cost of one vaccination against pneumonia. Inspired by a recent article by New York Times columnst Eric Asimov on the oft-overlooked domestic Rhone varietal, the Rhone Rangers created a campaign that promotes awareness of an oft-forgotten deadly disease while garnering more interest in domestic Syrah. Join “Pneumonia’s Last Syrah” on Tuesday, November 9th from 6 – 9 p.m. Tickets are $25 each, and can be purchased directly from the GAVI Alliance website. For more information, visit the Rhone Rangers online.
