This richly textured wine is released after 30 months in oak and a further twelve in bottle. The wine is mature now, and a pleasure to drink. It is made by a cooperative in the Alentejo region of Portugal that was founded fifty years ago. This is a classic blend based on alicante bouschet, now the signature grape of the region. Age and oak add complexity and earthiness to the wine’s flavors of ripened, sun-baked fruit – along with a notes of minty pepper, nice acidity and a longish finish.

SUSTAINABILITY STATEMENT:  Member of the Wines of Alentejo Sustainability Program, who have reduced their water usage — per liter of wine produced — from an average of 14 liters to five liters, with some as low as 1.2 liters. Additional measures at this winery include composting all organic waste and the installation of rooftop solar panels.
